The Trolls and the Tree: An Environmental Fable
In The Trolls and the Tree: an Environmental Fable, children learn the importance of preserving the environment through puppetry, storytelling, music and lots of audience interaction! This original puppet show is presented by puppeteers Margaret Moody, Ann Wynne, and musician Peter Lehman of Margaret Moody Puppets. The show opens with gentle live music played on the lute or guitar as bird puppets flutter about, waking up fairies asleep in a large leafy tree. The fairy group leaves on a trip, posting a note on care of their tree for troll caretakers who have yet to arrive. But, when the trolls don’t have enough space for their giant chairs and deluxe toaster, will they protect the tree that the fairies love?
In this program:
1. Students will understand that trees can provide food, water, shelter and favorable temperatures for a host of plants and animals.
2. Students will participate joyfully in a story told through live theater, one of many experiences that motivates children to learn to read.
3. Students will see a selfish character learn how her actions affect others.

- 2 chairs with no arms
- 3 bottles of water
Arrival time before first performance or program date: 90 minutes
Strike time: 30 minutes
Time needed between performances: 15 minutes
Please send a liaison from the school to greet artists and guide them to the performance space.
We request that all adults in the performance space model being attentive audience members for their students.
