Improv for Inclusion: Acceptance & Support
Building off improvisation’s foundation in support and collaboration, Boston’s best improvisers engage students with equal parts laughter, role-play, problem solving and exploration of day-to-day issues. This program shows that making a positive choice and supporting each other, should be easier than being needlessly negative or targeting an individual. Through improvised scene work, audience interaction, and spoken takeaways, participants will see examples of positivity that lead to more inclusive and respectful communities. Students watch and shape improvised scenes tailored directly to the types of negative social behaviors they may be seeing at school, off-campus and online. This program shows participants that they have the power to create a positive, supportive, collaborative community.

Audience Limit: 250
Curriculum Connection: Conflict Avoidance/Resolution, Anti-Bullying, Theater Arts, Social and Emotional Learning
Single Performance: $1,150
Additional Performances: $920
Travel: $100 per day
Pricing may vary for weekends/out-of-school time
Processing Fee of $30 added to all contracts
If required audio equipment cannot be provided, the artist can bring their own for an added fee of $50/day.
In-Person
Provisions:
- 2 reserved parking spaces
- 4 chairs
- Water for 4 performers
- Lunch if staying all day (school lunch is acceptable)
- 4 Lavalier (preferred) or handheld mics, Sound system. If these cannot be provided, the artist can bring audio equipment with an added fee of $50/day.
Performance Space:
- Enough room for four performers to move around free of obstacles, set pieces, etc.
- Ample lighting (front lighting) to illuminate actors anywhere on stage. If a raised stage, safe and easily accessible stairs leading from audience to stage.
- Minimum stage area dimensions: 10 feet wide by 6 feet deep.
Arrival time before first performance: 45 minutes
Strike time: 15 minutes
Time needed between performances: 15 minutes minimum, 30 preferred
Outdoors: Sound system if available. If not, please inform Arts for Learning Massachusetts.
Teachers are expected to model appropriate audience behavior for students.
Please introduce the performers as an Arts for Learning Massachusetts ensemble.
