Find Your Voice: Creative Writing Workshop

In this workshop, Myles works with young people to help them find their voices and express themselves creatively with words, whether those take the form of poems, songs, raps, or stories—real or imagined. With undeniable genuineness, Myles leads by example, modeling vulnerability, as they guide participants on through their creative process. 

Considering the popularity of ChatGPT, it is key for students to understand that the process of writing is worthwhile, fulfilling, and fun! There is no substitute for the enrichment that can come from the writing process. This program gives a space for students to use their imagination and build confidence and strength in writing for themselves. It’s an opportunity to become fascinated with writing, to connect with peers, and to enrich the writing experience through fun and engaging games and exercises. This workshop helps students think critically about poetry and creative writing and to apply what they learn to their own work.

In this program:

1. Students will explore and strengthen their unique writing voice while expressing personal experiences, emotions, and ideas with clarity and authenticity.

2. Students will gain confidence in their ability to use their imagination.

3. Students will develop an appreciation for how writing can be fun and enjoyable through playing storytelling games and engaging in writing exercises.
