Intro to Keys
Tessa Ying offers an introductory, small-group piano program designed to make music accessible and exciting for students with little to no prior experience. Students will learn foundational piano skills, explore rhythm and melody, develop musical vocabulary, and build confidence through group performance and creative activities.
In this program:
1. Students will learn how to identify and name the keys on the piano through hands-on experience on the keyboard.
2. Students will learn to express themselves on a new instrument, through the exploration of dynamic range and rhythm on the piano.
3. Students will learn to play simple songs on the piano using one or more of these methods: Finger numbers, note names, play-by-ear or “rote”, sheet music.

2 Workshops: $550
Additional Workshops: $220
Residency Workshops: $175-275
Planning fee based upon scope of residency.
Travel Fee: $50/day
Processing Fee of $45 added to all contracts
Pricing may vary for weekends/out-of-school time
Provisions:
- 1 Parking Space
- Extension cords and power supplies for keyboards
- Minimum of 2 Keyboards OR 1 Piano (instructor can supply up to 1 keyboard)
Arrival time before first workshops or program date: 15 minutes
Strike time: 15 minutes
Time needed between workshops: 10 minutes
Please send a liaison from the school to greet the artist and guide them to the workshop space.
A teacher or school representative in the room to support artist, model being an active participant, and address student needs.
Please introduce the artist(s) as an Arts for Learning Massachusetts teaching artist.
