Five of New England’s top woodwind professionals introduce students to woodwind instruments and musical concepts of composition such as melody, accompaniment, and style. Additionally, students hear a diverse selection of music from several countries and historical periods. Audience volunteers perform with the quintet in a rousing rendition of “Ragtime Dance” by the legendary Scott Joplin.

In-Person

Provisions:

  • 5 chairs without arms
  • 5 music stands
  • 1 Microphone

Performance Space:

  • Performance should take place on floor level, as opposed to a stage
  • Please set up chairs, stands, and microphone prior to artists’ arrival

Arrival time before first performance: 30 minutes

Strike time: 10 minutes

Time needed between performances: 15 minutes

Teachers are expected to model appropriate audience behavior for their students.

Please introduce the artists as an Arts for Learning Massachusetts ensemble.
